Reading the score
- Below 18 — traditionally considered a weak match.
- 18 to 24 — acceptable; the average workable range.
- 25 to 32 — a good match.
- 33 to 36 — excellent, and rare.
What the number does not decide
The guna score compares Moons — one layer of two charts. Experienced astrologers also check Nadi dosha and Bhakoot dosha cancellations, Mangal dosha (Mars affliction), the seventh houses, and the dasha timings of both people. A high score with clashing dashas struggles; a modest score with aligned timing often thrives. The number starts the conversation; it was never meant to end it.
